Phillips maintains continuity at Silverstone

Silvertone has a new managing director. Richard Phillips has been working at the track for the last two years, assisting Andrew Waller, the previous managing-director. Waller has departed the post now that the relationship with Interpublic has come to an end and Phillips has stepped up. The circuit is now back in the hands of owners, the British Racing Drivers' Club. The club therefore has complete control over the circuit once again and is looking ahead to a development programme which will be the result of the recently-agreed five-year deal to host the British Grand Prix. Our spies tell us that Silverstone is one of several companies involved in F1 to have demanded a clause in its contract with Formula One Management that the deal be for Formula 1 cars and not some replacement formula.
