Ilmor gets a new boss

DaimlerChrysler affiliate, Mercedes-Ilmor is to have a new managing-director. The German company has appointed Ola Kaellenius to the job. The company designs, develops and manufactures the Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 engines used by McLaren. The firm is in the process of being acquired by DaimlerChrysler which will have completed the sale by the end of 2005.

Kaellenius has been working at McLaren Cars in recent years, most recently as executive director of operations for the Mercedes-Benz SLR project. He has been with the German car company since 1993 and has previously worked at the company's production plant in Tuscaloosa.
