Piquet Jr to test for BAR

Nelson Piquet Jr will have a test with BAR-Honda next week in Jerez de la Frontera. The young Brazilian will be the fourth young driver that the team will have tried but we understand that the deal is more to do with BAT's desire for coverage in Latin America than to Piquet's further involvement in the scheme to find a young driver to join the team. The three candidates for the job are Alan Van der Merwe, James Rossiter and Adam Carroll.

Piquet will be racing in GP2 next season with the new Hitech Piquet Racing and hopes to move from there into Formula 1 in the longer term.

Nelson Piquet Sr. won the F1 World Championship on three occasions with Brabham and Williams in the course of a lengthy F1 career which spanned the end of the 1970s, the 1980s and the start of the 1990s.
