Former F1 man becomes PR chief of Volvo Ocean Race

Formula 1 is obviously a decent place to learn how to be a PR man or woman. Not only has the sport supplied the International Olympic Committee with its Director for Communications Giselle Davies, formerly the head of PR at Jordan, but now the Volvo Ocean Race is to have an ex-F1 PR Director. Cameron Kelleher was previously Head of Communications for Stewart Grand Prix and Jaguar Racing.

Kelleher has also worked in Champ Cars, the UEFA Champions League, Moto GP, World Superbikes and the World Match Play golf championship.

The Volvo Ocean race will start on November 5, 2005 in Sanxenxo, Spain. The route will take the competitors to Cape Town, Melbourne, Wellington, Rio de Janeiro, Baltimore, New York, the UK. Gothenburg and will finish in a Baltic port in the summer of 2006. At the moment there are six boats entered with two from Holland (ABN Amro), one from Brazil (Brazil 1), one from Spain (Telefonica Movistar), one from Sweden (Atlant Ocean racing) and one from Australia (Premier Challenge). There may be as many as four other teams.
