Typhoon misses Suzuka

Typhoon Ma-on has missed the Suzuka area and is now heading towards Tokyo. The rain stopped in Suzuka at about 3pm local time (0600 GMT) and although it possible that there will be more rain from accompanying storms, fears that the wind would cause considerable damage at the Suzuka Circuit have now passed. The storm is moving lowly up towards Tokyo where it is expected to hit tonight. Already there have been serious transportation problems with the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train services between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka being stopped because of the rains.

However it seems that Suzuka has got away with it. It remians to be seen if there is any flood damage at the circuit but the rains have now stopped and unless storms accompanying the typhoon cause problems it seems that the Japanese GP will go ahead.
