Bourdais continues towards Champ Car title

Sebastien Bourdais wants to win the Champ Car series this year and used that as a springboard to move to Formula 1 next year. His ambitions may be hit if some of the smaller teams are out of business or have to take pay-drivers but Bourdais is a name that is being considered at the moment and was due to have a test with Jaguar Racing before the recent announcement that Ford is selling the team. That test may still happen once the future of the team is decided.

Bourdais scored his sixth Champ Car win of the year at the weekend in Las Vegas to increase his lead over his Newman Haas Racing team mate Bruno Junqueira to 27 points. The Champ Car points system is complicated but with two races to go Bourdais needs to be consistent in Australia and in Mexico City. The winner of a race nets a maximum of 35 points with the 31-27-25-23-21-19 scoring system added to with various points from qualifying, fastest laps, most laps led and most positions gained.
