Timo Glock to race in Chinese Grand Prix

Jordan announced today that Timo Glock, their official third driver, will be taking over for Giorgio Pantano and will race car 19 in this weekends inaugural Chinese Grand Prix. A statement issued by the team today read, "The contract between Jordan Ford and Girorgio Pantano has been terminated."

Eddie Jordan stated, "It has been a pleasure working with Giorgio this year however contractual issues have made this unavoidable and we wish him every success in the future. Timo's performance throughout the season as our third driver in testing and free practice has been first-class particularly when he stood in and raced in Canada. I am confident that in this unexpected call-up he will do a good job for Jordan again. In Shanghai he will be in the same boat as everyone else as the circuit is new for all the drivers."

Glock has been testing with the team all season and has completed laps at every Friday free practice session at every Grand Prix. His race debut scored him two points in the Canadian Grand Prix in June when a management dispute kept Pantano out of the car. Glock's role as test driver will be taken over by Dutchman Robert Doornbos, winner of the Belgian F3000 round at Spa this year.
