Liuzzi meets Sauber

Vitantonio Liuzzi had a meeting with Peter Sauber on Thursday in Belgium and it is no surprise that the Italian, who is dominating the Formula 3000 title at the moment, is a strong contender for one of the Swiss team's seats in 2005. This would tie in with the rumours in recent weeks that Liuzzi is being lined up for a deal with Ferrari and could spend the next couple of years being prepared at Sauber, with the long term aim being to move him into Ferrari when Michael Schumacher retires.

Sauber is in discussion with a wide variety of drivers but is keen to find a strong replacement for Giancarlo Fisichella. Felipe Massa is expected to stay with the team next year but still needs to post some more solid results if he wants a long term future in F1.
