Liuzzi does it again

Vitantonio Liuzzi added a sixth win to his tally for the year in the seventh round of the FIA International Formula 3000 series although on this occasion he was helped by the fact that title rival Enrico Toccacelo, who has finished second on five occasions, was slightly held up during his pit stop. Liuzzi was right behind Toccacelo before the stops and did good IN and OUT laps and emerged with a lead of six seconds. The victory means that Liuzzi now has a lead of 10 points in the championship although, amazingly, he cannot relax yet because a victory for Toccacelo and a non-finish for Liuzzi would put the two men back on the same points total.

Liuzzi is hoping to pick up more wins in the last three rounds of the series to beat the record of seven career wins in Formula 3000 (shared at the moment by Nick Heidfeld and Juan Pablo Montoya) and to drive home the point to F1 team bosses that he is an exceptional talent.
