Monaco provides big boost for French Grand Prix

The Renault victory in Monaco is likely to result in a big boost for ticket sales for the French Grand Prix as the famously-chauvinistic French fans now have someone to cheer for. The Magny-Cours venue may not be hugely popular and it is remote but Renault's success should help the Federation Francaise du Sport Automobile to move towards its target of selling 50,000 tickets in order to make the race break even. There is also hope that the success of Fernando Alonso will result in a large number of Spaniards heading north to follow the adventures of their new hero. The recent Spanish Grand Prix enjoyed a crowd of over 100,000 on race day.
