Another blow for tobacco
There may not be much motorsport in Pakistan but the sheer weight of numbers in the country is a major step forward for the World Health Organization's Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. Pakistan boasts a population of 150m and that is a major boost to the WHO's campaign to stamp out tobacco advertising in the world.
There are a few populour countries yet to sign the convention, notably Russia and Indonesia, but there is now no argument that the government's representing the majority of the people in the world are opposed to tobacco advertising and sponsorship. Formula 1 may not wish to aaccept that reality but it is a reality nonetheless.
