David Coulthard and Jaguar Racing

It is a nice idea, but David Coulthard moving to Jaguar Racing is not a scenario that is going to happen, at least not according to our sources within the team. There are reports in the British tabloids that Coulthard is under consideration but all our sources say the opposite and indicate that Jaguar will continue with its policy of signing up young drivers - who are cheap - and hope that they can find a real star for the future. They have been successful in Mark Webber but it looks likely that the team will not be able to hold on to the Australia next year.

It remains to be seen whether Christian Klien will stay with the team but there are limited options available to him because he has not done enough so far to make him a man in huge demand. The jury is still out and watching his development. It is possible that Jaguar will try to broaden its deal with Klien's backer Red Bull in the hope of getting more money from the Austrian energy drink giant and logically the best way to do this would be to look at hiring rising Formula 3000 star Vitantonio Liuzzi, who has enjoyed the backing of Red Bull for several years and continues to be backed by the company with Arden International in Formula 3000. Liuzzi has won the first two races of the Formula 3000 series this year and so is clearly a man looking to break into Formula 1 in 2005.
