Mosley quits car industry role

FIA President Max Mosley has resigned as chairman of Euro NCAP, Europe's leading independent crash-test programme. He has been in charge of the organization since 1996 and in that time led Euro NCAP to become one of the most powerful road safety bodies.

"The next big area of progress is the avoidance or mitigation of an accident before it happens," says Mosley. "Getting this active safety right is a major challenge and will require more time from the chairman than I am now able to give. I am therefore stepping down but I am confident that the FIA and the FIA Foundation will continue fully to support Euro NCAP both financially and technically."
