Dixon impresses Williams

Scott Dixon impressed the BMW Williams F1 team with his first day of testing at the Paul Ricard circuit, lapping the track within four-tenths of regular runner Ralf Schumacher. Schumacher lapped the track at 1m11.330s while Dixon did a best time of 1m11.753s. The previous day Antonio Pizzonia had recorded a time of 1m11.211s. Nonetheless it was an impressive first day and the team will now look ahead to a more intensive test in Barcelona next month, after Dixon has had the chance to think about the car. Dixon completed a total of 59 laps of the track without any dramas although he did suffer from a gearbox problem in the morning which reduced his time in the car and so he did not get as many runs as he had hoped.

"I think I could have gone quicker," Dixon said.
