Mecachrome looks to America

The French engineering firm Mecachrome has announced plans to support Eddie Cheever's Red Bull Cheever Racing team in this year's Indy Racing League. Mecachrome is best known for its preparation of Renault F1 engines but now appears to want to expand into other areas in the motor sport industry and will be offering Cheever "expertise and critical processes including engineering, research, development as well as chassis and component aerodynamics and design".

The company recently built a new racing engine for sportscars and won a class victory in the Le Mans 1000 km last autumn.

Cheever has been looking for engineering back-up for his team since an alliance with John Menard broke down last year.
