Hubbert goes early

The DaimlerChrysler supervisory board has announced that Jurgen Hubbert is to hand over control of Mercedes-Benz to Dr Wolfgang Bernhard on May 1. Hubbert will remain with the company and in August will take over as head of the Executive Automotive Committee. The EAC was established by DaimlerChrysler in the beginning of 2001 with the aim of coordinating the companies various strategies, coordinating brand and product portfolios, coordinating technology, production and sales and marketing. In addition the Mercedes head of research and technology Thomas Weber will become head of development at Mercedes.

The board also announced its intention to extend Jurgen Schrempp's contract as chairman until 2008, a three-year extension.
