DAMS to join GP2

DAMS, the Le Mans-based team which once had F1 aspirations is planning to move back up the motor racing ladder after a period in the Renault V6 championship. DAMS was once the most successful team in Formula 3000 with a strong of titles but the team ran out of cash when French companies cut back and team boss Jean-Paul Driot concentrated on sportscars. But now with a new Formula 3000 equivalent in GP2, DAMS is heading back to the limelight. Driot hopes to raise enough money from French sponsors to avoid pay-drivers but that is not easy in the modern age.
