Jaguar aims for Toyota, Sauber and BAR

Jaguar Racing boss Tony Purnell says that the team will be disputing fourth place in the World Championship this year.

"We aim to compete with the likes of Toyota, Sauber and BAR this season," said Purnell. "I don't think we're ready to go for the front guys but I would like to think we might put a little bit of pressure on them as the season progresses. We want to maintain the momentum that we showed last year. But while we have raised our game everyone else has too."

Jaguar has not confirmed a third driver as yet but with Justin Wilson out of the picture because of the rules which stop experienced F1 drivers from testing on Fridays, the job is expected to go to American Townsend Bell, who tested for Jaguar before Christmas.

The former CART driver raced in the International Formula 3000 series in 2003. His inclusion in the Jaguar line-up will be popular with Red Bull as it is busy promoting its products in the US market.
