Jordan to get the same engine as Jaguar Racing

Jordan Grand Prix will use exactly the same engine at Jaguar Racing in 2004 - although the Silverstone-based team will pay for the privilege.

The logic behind the deal is that the development of the Cosworth CR6 - a development of the 2003 unit which has been strengthened to be able to last for 800km - will reduce costs of development and enable Cosworth to learn from two teams rather than just one. It will also be a source of extra motivation as Jordan will want to beat the works team and the works team will not want to beaten by a customer. For used this technique with great success in the early 1990s when McLaren humiliated the factory team Benetton in 1993, motivating Benetton to become a World Championship contender in 1994.
