The Brits in America

Getting to Formula 1 these days is tough for any nationality, not least the British, and several of the most talented young British drivers have been forced to go to the United States in the hope of making their names there in CART and IRL. Darren Manning is one who is beginning to make an impression in CART with second place at the recent Surfers Paradise race in Australia.

Dan Wheldon too is making waves, having just become the Indy Racing League rookie of the year. He has just re-signed for Andretti Green Racing for 2004 and will be joined in IRL next year by another Brit: Infiniti Pro Series champion Mark Taylor who has just been confirmed as the driver of the number two Panther Racing entry for the 2004 Indy Racing League IndyCar Series, alongside Tomas Scheckter. Taylor will drive a car sponsored by Menard.
