San Marino joins tobacco ban

The government of San Marino is of little international significance but its decision to sign up to the World Health Organization's Framework Convention on Tobacco Control means that the San Marino Grand Prix, held in Italy, cannot dodge any tobacco bans by claiming to come under the legislation of San Marino. This gets rid of a potential loophole which might have been exploited.

The recent rush of signatures continues with the additions this week of Belize and Panama although neither country has any significance in motorsport.
