Arden to test Lauda and Piquet

Back in the 1970s Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet were team mates at Brabham. Now both have become racing fathers and it seems that the two names will be linked together again when the Arden Formula 3000 team tests Matthias Lauda and Nelson Piquet Jr in the course of the next few weeks.

We hear that Lauda, who has been racing in the Spanish-based Formula Nissan series will have a chance to run at Imola at the end of October while Piquet, a frontrunner in the British Formula 3 series, will be seen in an Arden car in the first week of November in Jerez de la Frontera.

Arden will run Townsend Bell next year but the second drive in the championship-winning operation is up for grabs, although the name of Tonio Liuzzi is being mentioned as the most likely second driver.
