New infield seating for Indianapolis

Indianapolis Motor Speedway is to construct infield seating rather than relying on its massive grandstands around the oval and earth banks in the infield section.

"Our new bleacher seats are for the fans who prefer the luxury of reserved seats over the standing-room-only format of the viewing mounds," said Speedway vice president Joie Chitwood. "Given the fantastic view available from the seats, we are confident that they will be a big hit."

The new seating will be located at Turn 6 at the top of the back straight and between Turns 10 and 11 which will allow spectators to watch the F1 cars in the corners before they accelerate out on to the oval.
