Cosworth in business in the IRL

Sam Hornish Jr may have been beaten to victory at the Michigan International Speedway on Sunday but the event showed that the new Cosworth-built Chevrolet engine is a match for both the Toyota and Honda engines which have dominated the series to date.

Hornish led 126 of the 200 lap race raising fears that the status quo has been altered unfairly by the Indy Racing League.

It is however great news for Cosworth which will no doubt have more customers next year as a result of Hornish's debut outing with the new engine. There had been fears that Cosworth would have to lay off staff because of the cut back in engine supplies in CART and F1.
