Indianapolis to be championship decider in 2004?

Negotiations are believed to be going on to move the United States Grand Prix to the final place on the F1 calendar. This would mean that after the Italian GP at Monza on September 12 the F1 circus would head east for a China-Japan double-header before going on to finish the year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at the end of October.

Although this would be a month later than the current date, it would offer the Americans the opportunity to host World Championship showdowns which would boost interest in Formula 1 in the United States. This would also make for prime time viewing in Europe, which remains F1's biggest market at the moment.
