Mark McCormack

Mark McCormack, the man who built the International Management Group and one of the pioneers of sports marketing, has died at the age of 72. McCormack had been in a coma for the last few months following a heart attack. McCormack, who made his name managing golf legend Arnold Palmer in the 1960s, went on to build a huge empire and was involved in many sports including motor racing although IMG's connections in Formula 1 were limited to driver contracts. Among the many sports stars who were represented by IMG were Sir Jackie Stewart, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna and David Coulthard.
