Shanghai gets worried about SARS

The Chinese Grand Prix is still nearly 18 months away but there are beginning to be fears that the SARS virus could have an effect on the event. The 2004 Formula 1 calendar is being drawn up at the moment and it is anticipated that the first draft of a provisional calendar will appear at the FIA World Council in June.

The Shanghai government has been playing down the effects of the virus in recent weeks but has just announced that it is stepping up its quarantine measures for visitors in an effort to stop the spread of the disease from other parts of China.
