Albers wins DTM battle

Christijan Albers showed his DTM rivals the way to do it at the Adria International Raceway near Venice over the weekend, the 24-year-old Dutchman scoring his first DTM victory ahead of some of the more fancied runners. Albers took the lead during the second round of pit stops and built up a gap of over eight seconds by the finish.

It was Albers's first race with team AMG team and a big boost for him.

"I'm really happy and I'm glad that with my first DTM win I could justify the confidence Norbert Haug, Hans Werner Aufrecht and the whole team have put in me," he said.

Albers is expected to do some F1 testing later this year with McLaren.
