Changing the role of CART

In the light of all the talk of a deal between CART and F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, it is interesting to note that the CART board of directors has recently voted unanimously in favor of relinquishing its control over all decisions relating to engines and tires. This is interesting as it means that the series will be able to operate more easily as there have been problems in the past with team owners on the board blocking decisions. Such a decision will not deter an involvement in CART from outside investors looking for a championship which is easy to manage.

It remains to be seen if the CART-Ecclestone plan will ever become a reality as a deal with CART could be just a negotiating ploy of Ecclestone's as he tries to find a solution which will guarantee the future of Formula 1.
