Should all the teams switch to Friday testing?

The good performance of the Renault team in Malaysia had a lot to do with the fact that the team had an extra two hours of testing at the circuit on Friday morning - at least that is what Renault team boss Flavio Briatore is claiming.

"Doing two hours more in the morning, you have time to set up the car better and evaluate the tyres better," Briatore said. "If everybody did this it would be so much better for F1. Maybe we should do Thursday as well. We're here already, the expenses, the hotels, are paid. I think testing should be banned and we should just do Thursday and Friday. For everybody it would be the same."

At the moment only Renault, Jaguar, Minardi and Jordan are taking part in the Friday sessions while other teams are continuing to spend large sums of money to run test teams and transport all their equipment to circuits around Europe.
