Cheever takes over TWR Engines

Former F1 driver Eddie Cheever is expanding his racing empire. Menard Cheever Technologies (MCT), the research and development company established last December by Indy Racing League team owners John Menard and Eddie Cheever, has acquired TWR Engines, the engine development company which was part of Tom Walkinshaw's TWR Group. MCT is expected to take over the existing operation in Kidlington, Oxfordshire.

MCT had been working from a base in Indianapolis and was headed by Bernard Dudot until he decided to return to Renault Sport a few weeks ago. The operations will now be headed by ex-TWR man Charlie Bamber. It will continue to develop the Chevrolet IRL engine for Team Menard and Red Bull Cheever Racing but intends to expand operations to other teams in the future.
