CART acquires Miami race

CART has bought the Raceworks company which runs the Miami Grand Prix. This means that the future of the race is virtually guaranteed as Raceworks had a 15-year licence to run a street in the city. The inaugural event last year was a success and Miami now hopes to emulate the success of Long Beach with the Grand Prix of the Americas, as the event is known. The track used last year will be improved this year with a new section of road extending the track northward.

With the future of CART and Formula 1 being linked more and more the signing up of long-term race deals is important and a title such as The Grand Prix of the Americas would look very good in the F1 calendar at some point in the future.
