Renault Sport boss Flavio Briatore has been put in charge of the Renault Sport operations in France as well as in England. Briatore's ability to charm Renault executives has resulted in Jean-Jacques His being pushed back into a much more technical role to sort out the problematic Renault V10 engine while Briatore keeps an eye on the money.

It is unlikely that the new appointment will make much difference in the short term and it is still thought likely that the wide-angle V10 which Renault is pioneering will eventually be ditched in favour of a more conventional V10.
