Sauber seeks FIA assurances for HANS

Peter Sauber says that he wants the FIA to give assurances that the new head and neck support system is completely safe. Sauber says that he is not entirely convinced and both Nick Heidfeld and Heinz-Harald Frentzen have said that they are not yet comfortable with the device which is to be made mandatory in F1 this year. HANS has been very successful in America and there are very few detractors although several drivers had to do quite a lot of work before they had the system set up to meet their needs. The device is being introduced to reduce head and neck injuries in high-speed accidents.
