Emerson becomes a team owner

Double World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi cannot stay away from racing. After a long career as a driver which ended in 1996, the 1972 and 1974 World Champion retired but at the age of 50 he is now coming back as a CART Champ Car team owner in partnership with James Dingman. The team - which will be known as Fittipaldi-Dingman Racing - will run Formula 3000 refugee Tiago Monteiro.

Fittipaldi has kept a close eye on CART since he retired as the promoter of the event in Brazil and as holder of the TV rights for the Brazilian market.
