Problems in Bahrain

Bahraini politicians have voted against spending $200m on the construction of a racing circuit in the country - despite the fact that work has already begun. They are arguing that the project flies in the face of Islamic values. The project was recommended for approval by the parliament's financial and economical affairs committee. The vote could probably be overturned but as Bahrain is working hard to appear to the world to be a democratic country that would send out all the wrong messages. The MPs argue that the money that is available should be used for other projects which will help the population better.
