McLaren creates Automotive Division
The TAG McLaren Group has announced the creation of a new Automotive Division which will take over all of the activities of McLaren Cars and McLaren Composites. The new division of the company will be responsible for building the new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren which will be launched later this year. The SLR will be built at the new McLaren Technology Centre in Woking.
The new division is to be headed by Antony Sheriff, who joins TAG McLaren from Fiat where he was responsible for product development and planning for all Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Lancia cars and commercial vehicles. As a result of his appointment Andrew Walmsley, the current Managing Director of McLaren Cars, has announced his intention to leave the Group.
