Testing continues in Barcelona

Testing continued in Barcelona at the Circuit de Catalunya Tuesday, where David Coulthard set a blistering pace for McLaren to top the timesheet. Coulthard was the fastest man on the track by nearly a second and a half, while working with team test driver Alexander Wurz.

Williams ran test driver Marc Gene, Juan Pablo Montoya and ex-Larrousse driver Olivier Beretta, who conducted engine development work in an interim FW24.

The Sauber C22 was put through its second day of testing in the hands of Nick Heidfeld, who completed all the initial tests on the car and was able to conduct initial aerodynamic work Tuesday. Heidfeld's teammate Heinz-Harald Frentzen conducted component work in a C21 for the second day in a row, and will have his first opportunity to drive the new car Wednesday.

Toyota began a test program in Barcelona Tuesday with Olivier Panis and Cristiano Da Matta. Panis completed initial tests on the new TF103 while Da Matta was behind the wheel of an interim TF102.

Jenson Button will join the test Wednesday in the recently launched BAR 005.
