F1 cars will return to Long Beach

F1 cars will run on the streets of Long Beach next year, 20 years after the last Formula 1 visit to the West Coast race. But the reappearance in 2003 will be for historic F1 machinery, most of it from the 1970s and early 1980s. A large number of old F1 cars have found their way to the United States in recent years and the cars expedcted to run will include Mario Andretti's Lotus form 1978, Niki Lauda's 1977 Ferrari and Gilles Villeneuve's Ferrari from 1980. The cars will be fielded by an organisation called Historic Grand Prix which hosts races at a variety of tracks around the US.
