CART to pick up European venues?

The CART series is looking at deals with a number of race tracks in Europe, hoping to pick up some of the venues which have been unable to land Grand Prix races. According to a report in The Guardian newspaper in London these include Brands Hatch, Estoril and Spa. If all goes to plan the three races will take place in quick succession in May next year, giving CART a much stronger international presence. It is not yet clear what sort of quality the field will boast as many of the current teams and stars are moving to the Indy Racing League and the lack of stars may make it hard for the three tracks to attract big crowds.

It does not look very likely that Rockingham will continue to host CART next year as the cost of the event is difficult for the track to earn back from the public.
