Murray to become Honorary Professor

Gordon Murray, one of the best known F1 designers of the 1970s and 1980s, will receive an Honorary Professorship from the Faculty of Engineering, Science, and the Built Environment at the Durban Institute of Technology in South Africa. Murray graduated from DIT in 1971 before heading to Europe to become an F1 designer, making his name as Brabham and then going on to McLaren where he helped the team to success in the late-1980s.

Murray designed the McLaren F1 road car and in recent years has concentrated his efforts on the road car division of the company, of which he is Technical Director. He and his team are now developing the planned McLaren-Mercedes SLR, which will appear next year.
