Nelson goes to European Formula 3000

The third of the Red Bull young drivers, Joel Nelson from Nevada, will race in the European Formula 3000 series next year with the John Village Automotive team, which finished runners-up this season with France's Romain Dumas scoring three wins in the series.

Nelson will thus be able to learn the European racing circuits against some of the rising stars of the moment in Europe.

It is expected that the fourth Red Bull driver Paul Edwards will end up racing in the Formula Nissan series in Spain. The other two winners Scott Speed and Grant Maiman will race in British F3 and European Formula Renault respectively.

The shape of Red Bull sponsorship is changing somewhat this year with the expected decision that the company will support Patrick Friesacher and Vitantonio Liuzzi in the Coloni Formula 3000 team and provide no further support in Formula 3 with Bertram Schafer.
