Rosberg to test for BMW Williams

Nico Rosberg is to test a Williams-BMW Formula 1 car in the near-future at the invitation of BMW. The 17-year-old Finn, the son of 1982 World Champion Keke Rosberg, won the Formula BMW championship this year, his first season in single seater racing and has been invited by Gerhard Berger to have a run in the F1 car.

BMW Motorsport boss Gerhard Berger says that the test is not an automatic reward for Rosberg's championship success but says that he believes Rosberg "has the potential to become a Formula 1 driver and should be allowed to try a car without any pressure".

The test cannot happen until the middle of November because all testing is banned for a month from Monday.
