Teams wrap up Monza test

Friday was the last day of testing at the Monza circuit before the Italian GP next weekend. The teams ran in the morning only, allowing the race officials to begin the preparations for the race in the afternoon.

Rubens Barrichello set the pace on the final day. The Ferrari driver was less than three tenths quicker than Pedro De la Rosa in the Jaguar. Eddie Irvine was fifth fastest for Jaguar, which has shown impressive speed at Monza all week.

Mika Salo and Allan McNish were in action for Toyota, Felipe Massa was Sauber's sole tester Friday, while Antonio Pizzonia and Juan Pablo Montoya tested for Williams-BMW. Montoya caused on of the session's red flags when he lost control of his FW24, and hit a barrier lightly.

Alex Yoong was back behind the wheel for MInardi, taking over from Mark Webber, who tested Thursday. Yoong will return to racing next weekend at Monza after a two race break.

The man who took Yoong's Minardi drive at the last two GPs, Anthony Davidson, was back at his usual role Friday, testing for BAR, alongside Patrick Lemarie.

Also behind the wheel Friday was David Coulthard for McLaren and Jarno Trulli and Jenson Button for Renault.
