Testing continues at Monza

Testing continued at Monza Wednesday, where all the F1 teams except Arrows tested in preparation for the Italian GP. Ralf Schumacher set the pace in the Williams FW24, finishing the day less than five hundredths of a second faster than his brother Michael in the Ferrari.

The conditions were wet early in the day, as the rain that fell Tuesday afternoon continued into the morning. The rain stopped and the circuit dried up in the afternoon, allowing the teams to complete some dry testing.

Pedro De la Rosa was third fastest in the Jaguar R3, as the team continued front suspension development. Eddie Irvine was sixth fastest on the day in the second R3.

Olivier Panis and Jacques Villeneuve tested for BAR-Honda, and McLaren tested with David Coulthard. Renault drivers Jarno Trulli and Jenson Button were behind the wheel for the French team Wednesday, Jordan tested with Takuma Sato, Toyota with Alan McNish and Stephane Sarrazin, while Alex Yoong was back behind the wheel for Minardi, reacclimating himself with Formula One after a two race break.

Testing at the Monza circuit will continue Thursday and Friday.
