EDS to sponsor F1 in Schools competition .

The giant American technology company EDS has announced plans to become a supporter of the F1 in Schools competition in Britain. The scheme was established earlier this year by Jaguar Cars, BAE Systems and machine tools manufacturer Denford and requires students to design a Formula 1-type car using CAD software to create a 3D "virtual" model. Once the design has been completed teams can create the model using Denford CNC milling machines.

To date the competition has attracted 250 teams from UK schools. There will now be regional finals and the competition winners will be chosen at the British Education and Technology Training exhibition in London in January 2003.
