Red Bull and Jaguar

Dietrich Mateschitz, the boss of Red Bull was present at the Hungarian Grand Prix and spent a considerable amount of time with Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone and with Jaguar Racing boss Niki Lauda. Mateschitz is still keen to have a big involvement in F1 next year but the troubles with Arrows have meant that the company now finds itself in an embarrassing situation. The plan to buy the team has been cancelled, as had been rumored and the latest suggestion is that Red Bull could do a deal to support Jaguar Racing.

Red Bull's marketing goals is to make a big impact in the United States of America and the original goal was to try to land a factory engine supply with an American manufacturer. Jaguar, one need not be reminded, is owned by the Ford Motor Company and while a deal with Jaguar might not be exactly the deal that Mateschitz wanted it is a certainly a better option than some of the others available.
