Other whispers at Mid-Ohio
There were a variety of rumors doing the rounds at Mid-Ohio over the weekend with the continuing suggestion that Cristiano da Matta will leave Newman Haas Racing to join the Toyota Motorsport F1 team. The word in Ohio was that the Toyota deal is done.
There were also whispers that Patrick Carpentier, the winner of the race, will be moving on from Players Forsythe Racing, a move which would make way for a three-car team featuring Jacques Villeneuve, Paul Tracy and Alex Tagliani.
There are also suggestions that Tomas Scheckter may switch from the Indy Racing League to CART with a couple of teams said to be interested in the rather wild young South African (who crashed again at the weekend in the IRL race at the Kentucky Speedway).
