Red Cross racing?
A plan is afoot to run an English entry in the forthcoming Rockingham 500 under the Team Saint George banner - and Johnny Herbert is tipped to be the man likely to run in the England-branded car. The organizers of the event are trying to drum up interest in the plan which they hope will help bring in more spectators and boost the CART field by one more. If all goes to plan Herbert will drive in a Lola-Cosworth but what is needed now is a team capable of running the operation. The race is scheduled to take place on September 14.
The Rockingham race is also hoping to attract large number of Germans, who have bought tickets to the cancelled event at the Lausitzring. Rockingham is going to offer to accept all German tickets.
