Pantano wins first F3000 Pole at Hockenheim
Giorgio Pantano captured the pole for Saturday's F3000 race in Germany, the first of his career. Thomas Enge suffered from electrical problems during the first qualifying session, and was able to capture the second spot on the grid with just minutes left in the second sesison. Championship leader Sebastien Bourdais was fastest after the first session, but failed to improve his time in the second and dropped to fourth on the grid.Bjorn Wirdheim was third fastest, while American Derek Hill was seventh fastest.
Bourdais currently leads Enge in the championship by just five points.
